The NGO AIDE organized an exchange of best practices in community management of marine resources on the island of Anjouan from June 19 to 22, 2023. These exchanges were part of the NOCAMO project (Integrated Management of Marine and Coastal Landscapes in the Northern Mozambique Channel), funded by FFEM/CORDIO/WWF. The discussions mainly focused on mangrove restoration, biological rest through temporary closures of coastal fisheries (octopus, nets), participatory management of coral reefs, environmental education and awareness, financing through ecotourism, fish product processing, as well as rotating savings and microcredit. An inventory of potential best practices was established, and a network of field actors was launched. Another meeting is scheduled for the end of the year on the island of Moheli for further exchanges.
